Two items from pop culture, of little
consequence. First, if you like the TV program Cold Case with Kathryn
Morris (photo on the right) you should know that it was taken lock,
stock and barrel from the earlier Canadian version Cold Squad that ran
for 100 programs starring Julie Stewart (photo on the left).
Second,
don't waste your time on the movie For Your Consideration by
Christopher Guest. Its Guest's worst movie for one reason: solipsism.
Staring at your navel, or in this case, telling a story about how
Hollywood works, is boring to 99.7% of the world that doesn't make
movies.
The movie has one redeeming element. It proves what I said in an earlier blog. I said that the book The Devil Wears Prada had to be made non-Jewish when Hollywood made it into a film. The change is necessary to help self-hating Jews in Hollywood believe they are people with universal values...which they aren't.
In For Your Consideration the story is about a movie called Home for Purim. By the end of the film, the movie within a movie has been changed to Home for Thanksgiving.
