It is really amazing what a cathartic power elections have. Before the election many people on both sides see the election outcome as a grave matter, virtually direct causation for the end of the world.
After the election people, most of whom won something and lost something, express sorrow and dismay, resentment of their fellow voters, but it all subsides in a matter of days and is completely gone by weekend unless something like the 2000 Florida ballots keeps the election alive. Some rationalization is always put in place for the loses.
It is not so amazing, then, to remember that the recent Mexican elections were supposed to result in a revolutionary reaction. It hasn’t and we hardly hear about Obrado weeks after it happened.
