Workers in America have several interesting traits.
Of the roughly 100 million workers in the private sector, 7
million have two or more jobs. Nearly all of these are white between ages 25
and 55 and the two jobs break down as one full-time the other part time. Not a picture of people being worked to
death.
From age 17 to 27 the average worker has four different jobs. From age 27 until 37 the average worker only has an average of 2.5 different jobs. Job shifting is important to get ahead and to find out what type of work is most suitable.
Minimum wage jobs are found in 1.8% of the jobs in the vast American workplace. Of these nearly all are held by whites under 25 years of age, more females than males.
Raising the minimum wage level is on the current Democrat agenda. It will make it harder for young people to get legal jobs. Based on a study (I was among the first to publicize the study nationally) by David Card and Alan Krueger, employers deal with an increased minimum wage by slowing hiring and improving work productivity so as to reduce turnover.
