I like the term “Nanny Government.” It means a government that treats citizens like children.
One of the most annoying elements of Nanny Government is local parking tickets. The municipal government can be petty and picky in situations where corporations can’t be. Auto insurance companies raise your rates after three moving violations in a three year period. That would be the model if city governments competed in a marketplace of good governments.
We should be able to get 3-5 parking tickets in a one year period before we are penalized. The penalty can be equal to three or five times the average ticket but we would feel more like we’re being treated as adults and not like children. Picky, picky picky nannie government.
