I don’t know how to put this ... just looking at raw numbers, not picturing the humans behind the numbers:
One way to picture the number of American soldiers who gave their lives for our country so far in Iraq is to compare it to the number of Americans who die in auto crashes. The number of all the American military personnel killed in Iraq in three years is less than the number of deaths in three weeks in domestic automobiles.
Of course, both are tragedies and horrible to contemplate. The numbers show the comparable metrics, not the moral relevance of the comparison.
