The following observations require a high degree of candor on my part and yours.
Let me begin with some questions. Where are/were the pacifists or Papal pronouncements in the terrorist wars in Belfast, Spain, Sudan and the crumbling Yugoslavia? The answer: they were attacking Israel or defending the Palestinian terrorism. The pacifists never held silent vigils at the outdoor pizza shops in Jerusalem. The Pope never spoke out against Irish Roman Catholic atrocities in Belfast.
Why is the Arab world the current hot-bed of anti-Semitism? Why the Persians too?
Would Hitler be remembered today...
Would Hitler be remembered today if he had only killed German gays and
Gypsies? Is Pol Pot as well known in the world as Hitler? No…why not?
Why isn’t there a million-selling book called the Protocols of the Elder Basques? Elder Filipinos?
You’ve heard me rail against anti-Semitism in this blog many times. No more.
I now see anti-Semitism is a metric that measures the type of loser, or measures the decline of a loser society. Anti-Semitism is a measure that stands outside of history as a tool to see the variety of emerging and declining societies.
Candor: for 3,000 years the Jews have been important in the world and important in history. They have been particularly important in knowledge, commerce and trade. Jews have been probably more important and influential than their small numbers would suggest, and possibly more significant than any other people for thousands of years. (On this point, I expect to hear from defenders of the Vikings, Scots, Mongols, Chinese and Dutch.)
Put in simple contemporary language: attack the Jews and you make the front page, get books written about you and become historically important. Attack anyone else and you are rapidly forgotten.
If you or your people are losers, then the way to get attention is to attack the Jews who are perpetually and historically important. A pygmy tribe in central Africa could get worldwide attention by attacking Jews both physically and verbally.
Hitler is hardly remembered for the slaughter of Dutch, Poles, gays, mentally retarded or Gypsies. Killing Jews shaped the post WWII world and created a memory of Hitler. Pol Pot is hardly remembered at all for killing millions of Cambodians and Lao people. There will be no important memorials and few books for the people Pol Pot slaughtered and history has almost forgotten him already.
The Arab world is not just wrought up about Israel for creating a lush green, prosperous, brave, strong and successful nation on the same arid landscape as the Arabs, with a tiny fraction of the land and no oil; the Arabs recognize that they are losers in the modern world.
The Arab world would be as little noticed as the Indonesians, Malays or East Africans if they weren’t attacking and ranting about Israel and Jews. Arab anti-Semitism is the only voice the losers have. Otherwise no one cares.
The Persians are now in the same boat as the Arabs. Going from an emerging economic and military powerhouse before 1975, they have descended into a mullah hell and have become classic theocratic losers. Knowing they are losers, the Persians would soon be forgotten and ignored except for their desperate demand for attention with anti-Semitism and a nuclear bomb to kill Jews.
History remembers the Inquisition for driving the Jews out of Spain and Portugal, but hardly remembers the far greater numbers of Arabs driven out. The Inquisition was directed mostly at heathens and early reformers, which had hardly the historic effects of the expulsion of the Jews to Holland and Prussia. It also left Spain as a poor country with only gold and colonies.
The global news coverage of Israel for fifty years has been nearly one
hundred times as great as the news coverage of any other geographic
locale in history.
The Left is increasingly anti-Semitic in Europe and the reason is the
same: the ideology of the left is the ideology of losers. The last
remnants of anti-Semitism in the U.S. are to be found among
white-Supremacists in prison, Lefties and some blacks.
On the same point, anti-Americanism is now slowly emerging as a measure of losers too. America is the great historic force of the modern world and the driving power of commerce. The losers and loser nations can get attention with anti-Americanism.
If America continues as an historic force for the next thousand years, anti-Americanism will be a good metric for measuring losers that stands outside of history too.
