This is a partial book review. I had time on an airplane to read Dore Gold’s Tower of Babble : How the United Nations Has Fueled Global Chaos. I read less than one third of the book.
The book is an excellent work of history, recent history, on the series of turns that made the UN an ineffective and often harmful institution.
I put the book down when I realized that the reforms proposed for the UN, over the last year, which last week continued to show that they will never be implemented, are irrelevant. The UN is a dysfunctional institution that will not change in the foreseeable future, at least while I‘m alive. Why read about the details of the train wreck, regardless of how well written?
