I've been a business consultant for more than three decades and seen thousands of businesses large and small. I can tell the level of experience and management skill of the business I'm dealing with by looking at the work space.
In an instance where the business does shipping, which is particularly common these days with so many online businesses, the shipping table is a clear measure of business organization.
I assembled the image on the right out of a variety of images on Google. There was no single image that showed a proper shipping work space.
The space consists of a large open work table that should be above the waist level of most workers. No one should have to bend over to work. Forearms should be level. Access to the work table should be from all four sides; this also allows for extra workers in heavy shipping periods.
All the most common supplies should come from the storage area above the work table. Workers should be able to reach up without stretching for the half dozen most common supplies.
That is it. That is how experienced business people organize a work area/shipping table.
