In talking to strangers, I have occasionally mentioned that I have been to Cuba. There is a common response that includes two parts: isn't it hard for Americans to go Cuba? And isn't the embargo terrible?
The question from an hypothetical world of decent intelligent people would be: isn't it terrible that Cubans are held prisoner under the dictatorship of a communist tyrant?
The Left has created a large number of indecent heartless people and a nation of suffering slaves in the Carribean. Based on the following three irrefutable facts:
The three irrefutable facts that most people don't know about Cuba are different from the intentional denial of Cubans as human beings on an island prison.
1. Havana is a horrible mess. Castro has always hated cities. With the exception of a few renovated areas for tourists, paid for by Canadian developers, Havana has deep holes in the sidewalks, most buildings are completely falling apart and there is absolutely no repair or maintenance. The city is a slum. The same thing was visible in every East European communist country.
2. The food in Cuba is the worst in the world. That includes restaurants and home cooked meals. Pork, rice and beans. The lowest quality pork imaginable. Pork is important in all Latin societies as a lingering punishment for exiling Jews and Muslims. The vestige of four hundred years of the practice of eating pork to prove homage to the Church of Rome. Cuban pork is the worst... Catholic and Communist punishment.
Castro has tried to introduce fresh vegetables and soy products into the food stream but Cubans hate Castro so much and distrust him that nearly every Cuban refers to fresh veggies and soy as “Castro's poison plan.” Castro joins Hitler and Mao, who were also food nuts.
3. The American embargo is used by Castro to punish the Cuban people in every way. Castro blames the embargo for the shortage of everything including medicine and medical supplies. Who in the world can be so stupid to believe this crap? 99.9% of all products in the world are available on the world market including medicine and medical supplies. Old beat-up 1950s American cars are a farce; buy VW's or Toyotas from any country in the world.
