I was talking to an emergency room
doctor who had been an activist in the early 1990s. He had worked to
create state motorcycle helmet laws.
I pointed out that more than a dozen states had rescinded the motorcycle helmet laws and asked him why the tide had turned against him. His answer was blunt. Without helmet laws we get many more brain dead motorcyclists who are generally healthy young men. Perfect organ donors, for which the demand is increasing.
