The photo on the top right is the section of Safeway on
Market at Dolores that usually holds a few hundred shopping carts. The area was empty the other morning except
for the one cart I found outside. I
talked to the manager and got the story. She had gotten 400 new carts before Thanksgiving and another 100 at
Christmas. They are stolen by the so
called “homeless.” I asked if that
meant a loss of 200 carts per month. She said “yes.”
The photo on the bottom right is a pile of throw-aways on the street. The arrow points to an accordion that has been thrown out. A friend of mine on the upper Westside of New York has a piece of art that says “Use an accordion, go to jail.” Blue cities versus Lawrence Welk.
I had a piano in my house for ten years and I had many parties. The piano was only played once, at a party, in that ten-year period. The main place that pianos are still sold in the U. S. is Miami.
