The Oregon Coast is filled with signs telling people to go directly inland and head for higher ground when they feel an earthquake. The signs mention tsunamis as the reason and point 90 degrees to “inland.”
Are we Californians negligent for not having these signs everywhere on our coasts? Looks to me like we are negligent and the same goes for FEMA regarding all the U.S. Coastline.
This is a good point to remind my readers that we live in the best time in human history. We, meaning American adults. Not only is the medical care good enough to reduce a wide range of major and trivial physical suffering, but wars with millions of lives lost, are a thing of the past. We have a tsunami warning system in the Pacific that works. Of course, if you hate George Bush you can’t appreciate modern life.
