I find that the amount of “hate Bush” around me personally, in San Francisco and in the press seems to be dropping precipitously. If there were a reliable index of Bush hate, it would have crashed. Why?
My ex post answer is that a large part of the Hate Bush movement may have been anger at the 2000 Electoral College that chose a minority candidate.
I know I would feel the same way if Ohio had gone the other way … a minority president may always face serious disrespect.
This could be a continuing problem with an Electoral College that has the characteristics of a random number generator.
