Returning from Israel, I have started to refer to San Francisco as the City of Hate. Whenever I mention having gone to Israel, I am likely to face a heart filled with hate from the standard San Francisco pc lefty. I usually explain to people that their hearts are filled with hate -- they strongly deny it. Then I mention the names Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld and watch their reaction. After they spew out their hatred I suggest a test to see if the hatred really comes from their heart. Many agree to the test. The next question is: “Can you name three good things President Bush has done?” I’d settle for two or even one example. No one has offered any so far.
I don’t want my readers to think I am a hateful person for referring to one of my favorite cities as the City of Hate. I think, that when San Francisco was the City of Love in the mid-60s to the early 70s, San Francisco created revolutions in clothing, food, music, values and business. San Francisco, the gay city, also made great contributions to national and global culture. I think San Francisco, the City of Hate, will make some important contribution to national and international culture. I also think the contribution will be positive
