I saw a book review recently on a book about a British member of Parliament a century ago nick named Red Ellen. I didn’t read the review.
Every red in history was a type of fool. Before the experiments in red governance in Germany, Russia and China a red could be a thrill seeking rebel, dissenter following foolish ideas because they were anti-establishment. Still not worth paying attention to them, because they couldn’t see that using the government to create a new anti-capitalist person was a meaningless, perverse idea.
With the advent of government tyranny in Germany, Russia then China a red was just a pathetic fool who was stuck with old ideology and couldn't adjust to reality. Sadly my parents and many older friends fall into this category.
Humans are primates and we primates are unable to learn anything new after age 23. Therefore reds who came of age when the reality of Stalin and Mao were evident are plain and simple fools. People born at the end of WWII fall into that category. Baby boomers who are reds are just plain and simple fools. Although often malicious like Jane Fonda. I can not give them much forgiveness because they lived in a time when alternatives were emerging like William Buckley and George Orwell. I was able to see the foolishness of being a red after 1960 thanks to a brief time on a kibbutz and having read Animal Farm.
Someone who is a red and turned 23 after the fall of Russia and the rejection of Mao by China is a plain unadulterated fool; that is someone born after 1970.
Now I have a new category of blithering idiot fool. Someone born after 1990 who supports red ideas, Lefty ideology, because they could have read my works on the Internet in their teenage years or found several books such as the Rational Optimist.
The reality of commerce as the driving force of positive humanity, the modern world and human moral evolution is now writ large for all to see.
One needn’t be a fool anymore, if one reads English.
