It must be a very successful mall for Nordstrom's and Macy's, the two ostensible anchor stores to be closed on Sunday. The real anchor stores are Apple and the Cheesecake Factory (which is off premises and open on Sunday). The two hot stores these days are Forever 21 and American Eagle.
What makes a great mall? My opinion is based on the second most impressive mall which is in Jerusalem, Mamilla. And the third greatest mall is in San Jose: Santana Row.
Each of these malls takes advantage of urban attributes such as walkable streets, tall buildings and extraordinary design.
City Creek has a creek running through the middle of it with benches to watch the Creek and the trout in it. I'm told you can get a license to catch one or two of the trout. The mall is in the heart of downtown Salt Lake with tall buildings, banks and the other spires of white-collar sacred places.
I am not a shopper, but I am fascinated by the concepts, marketing and design of first rate malls. If the same is true for you, be sure to get to City Creek.
