Teenagers and young people are constantly told to be careful in their use of the social media because future employers will be reading their Facebook page and see the embarrassing, job disqualifying, pictures and comments.
I want to add to this caution. Age doesn't matter.
I found out from a friend of mine that before she interviewed nearly a dozen scientists for a very important laboratory job she checked the Facebook pages.
She actually eliminated several people because they had political and social views that were contrary to hers. Imagine that she is a very pro-abortion voter. She saw anti-abortion comments and membership in anti-abortion organizations on the people she disqualified.
You and I when looking for a job must remember that people want to work with people who are like them. That is a fact of human life.
That is the reason I have always pushed aggressively for diversity in corporated boardrooms... because human beings always want to hang out with other humans like themselves. In the corporate boardroom this is incestuous and harmful to the interests of our society.
Review your Facebook page if you are looking for a job. Get neutral.
