This article is about a Canadian study that found a completely surprising hole in the Arctic ozone layer. The finding was only released when government funding for the research was threatened.
There is no mention of the fact that the supposed reason for the hole in the ozone layer, CFC's were eliminated worldwide at great cost, a quarter of a century ago.
It turns out that the last hole in the ozone layer could have been scientists crying wolf. We know they cried Wolf about DDT and millions of black kids died of malaria since then. We know they cried Wolf about global warming so they changed the name to Climate Change. How about the population explosion that was actually caused by better sanitation but was dreaded by environmental sciences. Let us not forget all the resources that were to be exhausted in the 1980s ranging from fresh water to peak oil.
What else did the scientific world call Wolf about? Will it turn out that lead in gasoline would have given us better mileage and improved our health? Probably.
