My point, in looking at the situation on a national level is to suggest that times are different today. Sarah Palin will have an influence on this group and could well become an acceptable leader for them. Sarah Palin could unify this great traditional American grassroots outpouring of tax-government antagonism and lead it into mainstream politics. She has the charisma, the cajones and the political intelligence to do it.
The thought that Lefty and mainstream hatred of Palin will be a barrier to her moving toward the center and appealing to independent voters fails to remember that the independent voters of America are uniquely galvanized by mistreatment from the mainstream media. The more vituperous the mainstream media, the easier it will be for Palin to consolidate Tea-Party and independent polities.
To understand this dynamic, merely recall the 2004 election where George W. Bush was excoriated every day for two years by the mainstream media and carried the country and Congress by a significant majority.
i think the idea that she is intelligent is a joke...she called Africa a COUNTRY...no one of intelligence POLITICAL or otherwise would make that mistake. i find her book tour annoying and unprofessional if she wishes to run for election. Obama never went on a tour to sell his books. i dont like people who dont see her for what she is. a joke and a cancer in the republican party, i am a democrat but i would vote republican in fact if McCain had picked less of a moron for a running mate...i would have voted for him over Obama...

Lots of liberals liked McCain, though not enough to vote for him. Even the New York Times loved McCain for all his attacks on fellow Republicans, only to trash him after he'd locked up the nomination.
Some Republicans think the party can pick up more votes by moving to the center, like Coca-Cola did in 1985. Try the New Coke, it's more like Pepsi!
If they wish to be more than pallbearers at America's funeral, the Republicans must nominate someone whose mere mention sends lefties into paroxysms of spitting rage, like Reagan and George W. Of the current GOP hopefuls, only Sarah Palin passes that test.

It's not saying much to declare that Democrats and Liberals don't like Palin. Of course they don't ... she a Republican.
More relevant is that many young educated leaders the Republican Party don't like her either. John McCain and his supporters also don't like her. To avoid creating disharmony in the party, both constituencies now just keep there mouths shut.
It's too bad you don't have a voting function on your blog, so we could which of your readers agree or disagree with your assessment of her.
