Back in February when it was clear that John McCain had won the
Republican nomination, I wrote a blog making it clear that John McCain
would be the 44th President of the U.S. unless he himself made a mistake.
Many people have asked me why I was so certain, now that my position seems to have more credibility. Answer: John McCain is as American as anyone can get.
What that means has been a little too wordy for me to venture
explaining.
But John McCain made that point clear with his visit in
early August to the stage of the Buffalo Chips motorcycle rally in
Sturgis, South Dakota. Sturgis' Buffalo Chips is a week long rally
attended by more than 400,000. When John was on stage he got the
appreciative roar of 50,000 motorcycles as his applause. Also, being
John, he suggested his wife Cindy might enter the nightly Miss Buffalo
Chips contest. She was in just such a contest for cheer leader in
college.
Definition: Only an American would seek the praise of 50,000 motorcyclists with the roar of their engines and only an American would get it.
