This billboard is in San Francisco on Divisadero and Fell, it says: “The earlier he starts drinking alcohol, the more likely he is to abuse it.”
This is blatantly wrong. The question in my mind, when I saw it, was: “in the whole process from conception to proposal, to ad agency to mock-up, to creative to media to display company….weren’t there any French, Jewish or Japanese people who could call attention to the absurdity of this billboard statement and point it out to the sponsor, MADD?”
There are other cultures, of course, where alcohol is a family ritual too, but most of them are not as well represented in America as the French, Jews or Japanese.
On the other hand, MADD was founded by a San Francisco Jewess, whom I almost dated (I saw the black cloud over her head and ran away) and who was quickly kicked out when the organization reached national size.
